Otrokovice (12.1. 2015) - The Otrokovice Heating Plant has supported the Center for Pain Treatment and Palliative Medicine. A donation of CZK 40 thousand will be used for buying equipment for the domestic hospice “Most k domovu Zlín”.
The hospice “Most k domovu Zlín” provides care for terminally ill patients in their home environment. It is the only facility of its kind in the Zlín Region and has been in operation since April last year. The care is provided by doctors and medical staff every day for 24 hours. “People are very interested, for the time of our existence we have treated 85 patients. People want to spend the last period of their lives at home and with the ones they love,” says Drahomíra Páníková, the coordinator of palliative care.
The facility, however, struggles with a lack of funding, because it does not have a contract with the General Health Insurance Company. So all the costs have to be paid by the hospice and partly also by its patients. “We are in a difficult situation still negotiating with the insurance company about reimbursement for care. Thanks to the donation from the heating plant we can buy some equipment for terminally ill patients,” says Mrs Páníková.
The Otrokovice Heating Plant also participated in the New Year Charity Concert last year donating CZK 50 thousand to the Center of Early Support Educo Zlín. The company spent almost CZK 1.5 million on donations or sponsorship supporting particularly health care, education and social welfare projects last year.
