The Otrokovice Heating Plant is to support the town of Zlín with the amount of CZK 100,000. The money is intended for the restoration of the Tomas Bata Memorial.
The heating plant representatives have signed a cooperation agreement with the mayor of Zlín today and agreed on particular financial support. “Last year we contributed to reconstruction of the playground in the elementary school in Zlín-Malenovice, this year we will provide funds for the restoration of the Tomas Bata Memorial,” said Petr Jeník, the Chairman of the Board of the Otrokovice Heating Plant.
The heating plant belongs to the companies that carry on the tradition and legacy of Tomas Bata. It was the shoe company Bata that in the 1930’s built the power station, a predecessor of the heating plant today. It supplied electricity and heat to firms as well as homes in the town of Otrokovice.
Miroslav Adámek, the Mayor of the town of Zlín, appreciated the company’s dedication to the memorial restoration, “We appreciate very much and we are grateful for the contribution of the Otrokovice Heating Plant. And I can assure you all that all the money will be spent on good cause, as well as all other donations. The building where we are going to restore the T. Bata Memorial in is a jewel of not only our town, but for its importance it is compared for example to the Villa Tugendhat in Brno.”
The Tomas Bata Memorial, designed by the architect F.L. Gahura, is referred to as the most highly valued building in the town of Zlín. After the restoration the building should again serve its original purpose.
